This takes about 20 minutes. After completion, passengers can pass through security with their luggage. The driver needs to return to the nearby border gate to wait for the confirmation of the vehicle’s customs procedures, which takes 30-60 minutes. Once the procedures are completed, the border inspection personnel will check the vehicle and luggage. If everything is in order, the driver can then drive the vehicle through the border gate and meet up with the passengers at other side of China.Subsequently, the guide leads the guests to the town to get a local SIM card and Border Travel Permit.

  • Then, following the valley, climb 1400 meters within 2-3 hours to reach the edge of the true “roof of the world” – our overnight site for tonight, Gyirong County. The altitude is 4200 meters here.

  • Today, our guide will instruct guests on how to use the universal QR code payment system throughout China, so that guests will not need to visit ATMs frequently. This makes shopping and paying for fuel, tolls, and parking fees more convenient.
  • Driving from Gyirong County to Rongbuk Monastery (5100 m,near by EBC). The driving route takes you through the Himalayas, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes experiences.

  • When traveling to Everest Base Camp, it is recommended to take precautions against altitude sickness, bring sufficient warm clothing, and carry food to replenish energy. Rongbuk Monastery offers accommodation services with a guesthouse for visitors to stay overnight, but the facilities are relatively basic. The Rongbuk Monastery guesthouse is the oldest accommodation facility near Everest Base Camp and is currently undergoing reconstruction. It is expected to offer standard rooms with private bathrooms, providing a more comfortable and convenient accommodation experience for visitors to Everest.

  • The ticket price for Everest Base Camp is 180 RMB per person, the entrance fee is 320 RMB per vehicle, and the sightseeing bus fee is 120 RMB per person. The best time to visit is from April to June and from September to October. For guests who are not entering during this period, we recommend arriving directly in Shigatse today and spending an extra day visiting one of the important temples in Tibet, Tashilhunpo Monastery.

  • Today, leave early in the morning and drive to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. 6 driving hours.

  • In the afternoon, drive to the Vehicle Administration Office to process temporary driver’s licenses and vehicle temporary licenses with the assistance of guide. If the process cannot finish within today, we will do it next day morning.
  • Today’s itinerary is undoubtedly an exciting journey, as you will spend half of the day driving along one of the three major sacred lakes of Tibet, Yamdrok Lake (also known as Yangzhuoyong Lake or simply Yang Lake). The scenery here is breathtaking, with the lake famous for its deep blue waters and the surrounding majestic mountains, symbolizing the natural beauty of Tibet.

  • Arrive in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet and a holy city for believers, in the evening.

Lhasa is a city brimming with history and culture. Here are brief introductions to three of Lhasa’s famous attractions:

1. **Potala Palace**: As one of the most iconic structures in Tibet and the highest ancient palace in the world by elevation, Potala Palace stands on Red Hill, with its golden roofs and white and red walls contrasting beautifully against the blue sky. Inside, it houses a wealth of cultural relics and Buddhist treasures, such as statues, scriptures, and ancient artifacts. Visitors can explore the palace’s halls and temples to appreciate the gems of Tibetan architectural art.

2. **Jokhang Temple**: Located in the heart of Lhasa, Jokhang Temple is one of the most important temples in Tibetan Buddhism and a symbol of Tibetan faith. Known as the “end point of pilgrimage for Tibetan Buddhists,” it attracts thousands of devotees and tourists. Built in the 7th century, the temple combines architectural styles from Tibet, Nepal, and India. It enshrines numerous Buddha statues and precious Buddhist relics, the most famous of which is the golden statue of Sakyamuni at the age of 12.

3. **Barkhor Street**: Barkhor Street is a renowned pilgrimage path and commercial district in Lhasa, and it’s a must-visit place for tourists. Strolling along Barkhor Street, you will be completely immersed in the rich Tibetan cultural atmosphere and traditional architectural styles. Additionally, Barkhor Street is filled with a variety of shops, markets, and vendors, offering an array of Tibetan handicrafts, jewelry, Thangkas, Tibetan medicine, and all kinds of souvenirs.
